Swallow Whole
Monster Maneuver
Swallow Whole
Standard Action, Requires Improved Grab
You attempt to swallow a creature you have grabbed. The target must be at least two size categories smaller than you:
| Your Size | Largest Swallowable Target |
|---|---|
| Medium | Tiny |
| Large | Small |
| Huge | Medium |
| Gargantuan | Large |
| Colossal | Huge |
Roll a grapple check opposed by the target's escape roll. On success, the target is swallowed. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, has total cover against everything outside you, and takes medium bludgeoning damage plus medium acid damage at the start of each of your turns (Con half). It can attack only with light weapons or natural attacks, targeting your insides, which have no armor.
A swallowed creature can escape in two ways:
- Climb out: standard action; Athletics check with disadvantage against your grapple DC. On success, it emerges in a space adjacent to you.
- Cut its way out: once the damage it has dealt from inside totals 20% of your maximum hit points, it tears an exit and lands prone in a space adjacent to you. Other swallowed creatures can follow through the hole until the start of your next turn, when it seals.
You can hold one swallowed creature of the largest allowed size, or twice as many for each size category smaller than that. If you die, swallowed creatures are expelled prone into spaces adjacent to your corpse.
At rank 2, the ongoing damage increases to heavy.
