At-will, swift, ranged; you gaze into subject's eyes. If they are aware of the danger of locking eyes with you, and wish not to, they're allowed a Dex save to negate. Otherwise, your souls connect, and you learn several things:
- You learn if they have a soul, and what type. You can tell a mortal from an immortal, you detect strong planar alignments (such as fey or demons), and powerful bonds to immortal forces (such as a paladin's oath or a warlock's pact).
- You learn a nugget of knowledge about their true, moral self. This takes the form of a vision, either a direct memory, or a more abstract representation. This information is always true, but can be slightly vague. In any case, it gives you a useful clue about the morality and intentions of the target. It doesn't reveal specific information, like passwords, secret locations, etc. Also, when this happens, the subject learns a similar nugget about you.
As a result of glimpsing their soul, you gain Vitae.
At rank 2, you can choose to learn one of the following additional pieces of information:
- You learn the target's current emotional state, and their general attitude towards you (hostile, friendly, or neutral).
- You learn the target's current health and energy levels, and whether they are under any significant magical effects (such as being charmed, cursed, or under a buff or debuff).
- You learn the target's current thoughts about you, if they are thinking about you at all. If they are, you get a vague sense of what they're thinking (e.g. "they're planning to attack you", "they're trying to hide something from you", "they're considering whether to trust you", etc).
At rank 3, you can choose to learn one of the following additional pieces of information:
- You learn the target's current intentions towards you, if they have any. This is a vague sense of what they plan to do in the near future (e.g. "they intend to attack you", "they intend to flee from you", "they intend to talk to you", etc).
- You learn the target's current desires, if they have any. This is a vague sense of what they want in the near future (e.g. "they desire to harm you", "they desire to help you", "they desire to avoid you", etc).
- You learn the target's current secrets, if they have any. This is a vague sense of whether they are hiding something significant from you (e.g. "they're hiding a secret about their identity", "they're hiding a secret about their intentions", "they're hiding a secret about their past", etc).
